Sony not reducing price of PlayStation 4 Pro

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) will not be seeking to decrease the cost of its flagship game console PlayStation 4 (PS4) Pro. People are extremely pleased with the PS4 Pro, so we do not have any plans to change the pricing, said Mr Shuhei Yoshida, president of SIE worldwide studio. He had been talking to select South-east Asia media at the faces of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2017 gaming conference.

Even the newly-announced Xbox One X game console by Microsoft will likely be costly at $699 in Singapore, which is $100 more expensive than the PS4 Pro. Any price reduction in PS4 Pro could have bang another nail into the coffin for Xbox One X, that is supposed to be published sometime this year. In the past, SIE has some always pointed responses to Microsoft's console statements. For example, back in 2013 if Microsoft announced Xbox One without the used games support and online connection necessary to playwith, SIE hit back with the exact reverse "demands". It even cheekily published a video to illustrate how to share a used game.

But this moment, SIE intended to allow the games speak for themselves. During the SIE media exhibition on the eve of E3 2017, it had been only video trailers following video recorders of PS4-exclusive games such as God of War and Marvel's Spider-Man. That is the clear intention that we have, Mr Yoshida stated. He believed that rather than having developers about the media showcase talking about games, it was better to simply show the best of games available on PS4.

Mr Yoshida said this past year SIE was quite busy preparing for the launch of new gaming hardware like PS4 Pro and PS VR. But now that those are from this way, SIE can eventually concentrate on rolling out the PS4-exclusive games. We can concentrate more on the games as that is what people are looking forward to.
